Wood Restoration - 6 Step Process To New Looking Floors

There are 6 easy steps we undertake to successfully restore and rejuvenate your wood floors. Put your mouse over the image to see the difference.


Step 1 - Evalutation
We evaluate your floor to determine if it is a good candidate for refurnishing Hardfloors are most frequently made from Red Oak, White Oak, Maple or Southern Yellow Pine. Common finishes for these floors would include oil-modified polyurethanes, water based urethanes, varnishes and laquers. Factory finished floors are becoming increasingly popular.
Step 2 - Room & Floor Preparation
All furniture and breakable items moved, our craftsmen will then carefully protect skirting or wall coverings, using appropriate low tack tape, water proof plastic or waxed paper.
Step 3 - Vacuum
The purpose of this step is to thoroughly clean the floor of any contaminates and to etch the surface of the old floor finish so that the final protective coats has something to grip.
Step 4 - Sanding
Calvary Carpentry uses a mix of bona sanders from belt sanders to the final buffer we are proud to say we do the job of refinishing parquet floor better than others. Although the task is more tedious and labor intensive, the risk of damaging the beautiful inlay of your floors comes next to never. Using Bona device calls for control and proper handling, which will be handled by our professionals.

Step 5 - Pre-existing damage and repairs
Damages such as small nail up to .5cm can be repaired. Also small cracks, scratches and compression marks are treatable with Bona Gapmaster.
Step 6 - Application of Waterbased/Oil Based Varnish
Working in tandem, a two man team complete the edging application process using precision movements and specially designed tools to ensure perfect final treatment of the floor finish, preventing premature drying out.
